Fernie Cross Country SkiingCross Country Skiing
The Fernie Nordic Society is a non-profit society that officially came into existence July 2006. Through the monumental efforts of many volunteers, there are now more than 20 kms of pristine groomed Nordic track in one of the world's most spectacular venues. The primary goal of the Fernie Nordic Society is to provide low cost winter fitness activity to its membership through high quality groomed trails and programming. Fernie SnowmobilingWhether an avid enthusiast or a first timer check out the snowmobile tours and hire companies in Fernie. Hire sleds for a group and have a day exploring the mountains that surround Fernie or go looking for that perfect place to have a picnic lunch. Dog Sledding
Have you always wanted to take a ride on a dog sled or dreamed of that romantic dog sled ride amongst snowy mountains? How about driving a sled yourself? Fernie can offer you that dream! Spring, summer & Fall:

Fernie Fly Fishing - The Bull RiverFishing
The famous Elk River in Fernie is situated in the East Kootenays of the Canadian Rockies and this is where Kootenay Fly Shop & Guiding was established in 1995 to offer anglers a full service fly-fishing shop and British Columbia Guide Service for some of the best fly-fishing waters in North America. Experience fishing of a lifetime where the last strong remaining populations of Wild West Slope Cutthroat Trout in North America can be found in our rivers. Pursue Cutthroat Trout on the dry as well as fishing for huge Bull Trout on the Elk River. Fernie Golf & Country ClubGolf
The Fernie Golf & Country Club offers an 18 hole championship course that is very playable for the beginner or average golfer but also offers great challenges for the better player.  Water is in play on all but three holes and the greens are very challenging and will test your putting skills.  We offer Cart and Club rentals, Driving range, Practice green, a fully stocked Pro Shop and full service Restaurant to meet everyone’s golfing needs.  Tournament and group bookings are very welcome.

Mountain Biking
Mountain biking in Fernie is a favourite pastime for locals - you might hear some say that they actually love the biking more than the powder, if you can believe that! With expert singletrack to cruisey beginner runs and community trails, come and see for yourself why people love Fernie for the biking. Look for trail maps around town and stop in to one of our local shops for the latest in bikes, biking gear and advice.

White Water Rafting
With access to two great rivers, Fernie has white water rafting to please every taste. Whether you are looking for a mild ride or a fun white water experience on the Bull or Elk River, rafting in Fernie will definitely float your boat!

Fernie HikingHiking
Of huge value to the community are the parks, green spaces and trails in and around town helping Fernie residents and visitors alike, remain connected with the surrounding natural environment. Fernie's trail network offers kilometres of enjoyment and the surrounding mountains have trails for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

For an outdoor game of singles or doubles, head to one of Fernie's tennis courts. Play in town at James White Park or at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Fernie WildlifeWildlife Viewing Tours
Fernie and the Elk Valley is well known for its abundance of wildlife. Expect to see elk, deer, moose, rocky mountain big horn sheep, mountain goats and bald eagles. During the spring to fall season you may have the chance to see black bears and grizzly bears. The Elk and Flathead Valleys have the highest concentration of inland grizzly bears in North America. Fernie Aquatic CentreSwimming
In operation since the fall of 1997, the Fernie Aquatic Centre has proven itself to be a hit with residents and visitors alike. Featuring a 6 lane - 25 metre sized competition pool complete with a one metre diving board and tarzan swing.  A 15 metre leisure pool ranging from 0 depth to 1 metre with spray fountains.  A 25 person hot tub kept at a balmy 104 degrees along with the most amazing view available from any hot tub.  There is also a 15 person steam room.   And lastly a 150 foot waterslide with its own run off lane. Find the Fernie Aquatic Centre at 250 Pine Avenue.

Located on Fernie’s historic downtown main street, the Vogue shows first-run movies, usually at 7 and 9 pm nightly (check listings for more information), and now features $5 matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 3 pm. The theatre regularly hosts film festivals, special screenings and the monthly Indie Films Fernie. We try hard to maintain affordable pricing so that families and community members have an option for a reasonably priced night out. Ask our staff about the family rate.
